Virginia State Capitol

A beautiful building, and beautiful grounds too! So much history. If you have some time and you're in the area, it's well worth taking the tour.

Visit to the updated Virginia State Capitol was very cool. The outside grounds having multiple dedications and statues to walk around and see. Inside the Capitol had more historical figures in Statues and paintings. A very lovely visit.

The Virginia State Capitol, located in Richmond at 1000 Bank St, is the seat of the Commonwealth's government and houses the oldest elected legislative body in North America, the Virginia General Assembly. Designed by Thomas Jefferson in 1785, the historic building is modeled after the Maison Carée in Nîmes, France. It is open for free public tours, offering access to its historic chambers, the rotunda featuring a statue of George Washington, and the surrounding 12-acre Capitol Square.
