Simple rooms in an 1873 property offering a bar with live music, plus free breakfast & Wi-Fi.
The Good: The location in downtown Truckee can’t be beat. The historic nature of the building is charming. There’s a great indoor communal space and outdoor deck on the second floor. The Bad: The room was “tired” and depressing with grime in the bathroom and carpet. The price was way too high for the poor condition of the room. The Ugly: I was literally burned when the shower suddenly went from warm to scalding hot for a few seconds. When I reported this to the staff, I was told this had never happened before. Insensitive as well as hard to believe.
Stayed here for 2 nights on short notice. I'm a huge skier and like to track where the snow / powder goes and this hotel served me perfectly given my circumstances. Close proximity to the mountains, quiet rooms (use the fan!), excellent bar and restaurant downstairs. Quick grab and go food. The hotel itself is super cool. Historic buidling. Minimal features in the room: bed and sink. Bathroom situation is kinda funny, but it makes it an experience! Highly recommend this hotel for someone who is a dedicated skier, likes good food/drinks, just needs a place to rest their dusty head.
I loved it here! It felt authentic & homely. Staff were delightful & the room was wonderfully quirky with proper original old bath & sanitary ware. Super shower & nice toiletries. It was clean & well equipped but showed proper respect for its venerable age. The food downstairs was AWESOME! Great live music too.
