The Old Talbott Tavern

The Old Talbott Tavern is the world's oldest Bourbon Bar & apparently has recieved numerous accolades & awards over many years & with it being built in the late 1700's it has had many notable guests such as Daniel Boone, Abraham Lincoln, Jesse James & others so that in itself is worth a stop for any history buff. Once we entered we absolutely loved the old time charm with the really thick stone walls & heavy timber ceilings yet cozy at the same time. We ended up ordering the Shrimp & Grits as well as the Pulled Pork Platter. Everything was served in short order & was excellent. The service was good & the prices were fair. My only complaint about the restaurant was that it was an overly loud atmosphere which made it a little difficult to hear the servers & your dinner mate but I guess they can't do much about that. Overall it was a fantastic experience & we will most certainly return next time we find ourselves in beautiful Bardstown Kentucky.

We just ate at the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel. We stopped in for the historical significance. Neat building! Food was fine. The hot brown had sooo much cheese. My husband enjoyed the Shepherd's Pie. We got the summer zucchini blossom app and he liked it more than I did. I'd say stop in for a bit of history. Visit the gift shop too. Nice staff over there.

Really enjoyed the restaurant . It was our first visit. We were seated immediately. Had lunch. Reasonable prices. Our server Stacy was kind friendly and efficient. The fried green tomatoes were incredible. A lot of places in my experience over bread and/ or overcook them but these were just right and I could taste the flavor of the tomatoes. I had the pork sandwich and my wife had a hot brown. We enjoyed both. The ice tea was a little sweet for my taste but good. Looking forward to visiting again. Hope to get to stay at the inn sometime.
