Sherman's Deli & Bakery

My friend and I were heading out from our vacation in Palm Springs in the early morning... thinking about the horrible gas station food we would encounter on the drive home, and then DING! This deli opens at 8am. We were actually 2nd. in line for the doors to open. My friend and I lived many many years in NYC...deli rules. When it opened we were greeted and seated, we chose to sit inside though they did have a fairly big patio area. Service was excellent all around from the hostess who sat us to Christina who took good care of us making sure water and coffees were refill promptly and was very friendly. My friend ordered his favorite, a hot Pastrami sandwich on lightly toasted rye. I ordered my most favorite deli item, the Chopped Liver appetizer. While we were waiting for our food, we were served the tradition Pickle Tray, YEAH!!!! The food came out and was all DELISH! My friend loved his pastrami sandwich and my chopped liver was good but could of used some chopped hard boiled egg, more onion and some salt.. but was still good. To note: We would definitely come again on an off hour where I would not have to wait. Atmosphere: Fairly large inside and patio, very Deli feel, huge bakery display to purchase. Service: excellent. Food: very good.

Having a restaurant like this in our neighborhood feels like a true blessing. When living in the States, it’s easy to stick to familiar comfort foods because trying something new can be a gamble. However, I can confidently say this place is a must-visit. The interior is spacious, and the patio seating is a wonderful touch—many diners were enjoying the outdoor atmosphere. The food was absolutely top-tier. My grown-up children were the ones who discovered this gem, and even though it was my first time trying these dishes, I’ve already decided what I’m ordering on my next visit. This is definitely the spot I’ll be bringing my friends and guests to. Highly recommended!

Need to cheer up? Eat at Sherman’s. The pastrami on rye today was sooooo good it was well worth the long drive. The barley-mushroom soup, matza-ball soup and gefilte fish are authentic and delicious. The roast herbal chicken is excellent and comes with choice of 3 potato dishes, soup and vegetables or fruit. Between 4 and 6 pm it’s an early bird special. The pastrami was heavenly; the meat is shipped from NY. The 9 oz charbroiled hand-trimmed NY steak is very satisfying and excellent value, like everything in this restaurant. The restaurant is busy because the food and people who work here create a wonderful congenial atmosphere. The generous serving of baked salmon with mashed potato, bagel and cream cheese and vegetable salad was delicious.
