Monkey Rock Trailhead

An easy lakeside walk rewarded with unforgettable Tahoe views. We didn't see the monkey rock but, the Monkey Rock Trail to Saint Harbor beach is a beautiful and approachable hike with incredible views of Lake Tahoe’s clear blue water, surrounding mountains, and forested shoreline. Starting from the Bullwheel parking area, our walk was approximately three miles. Most of the route was flat and followed a well-paved path, with only a few moderate inclines along the way. The peaceful lakeside scenery makes the walk enjoyable even before reaching the main viewpoint. Parking was the only challenge—we visited during a long weekend and had to make several rounds before finding a spot. Arrive early in the morning for easier parking and a quieter experience. A perfect trail for a relaxed walk, photography, and soaking in Tahoe’s natural beauty.

Monkey Rock is always a great hike. Mostly straight up but well worth the amazing view. Very popular hike. Go early in the day before it gets hot & make sure to take water. Lots of bicycle riders also use this trail.

My wife and I recently hiked Monkey Rock near Incline Village, and it was an absolutely beautiful experience. The trail was fairly easy, even with a light layer of snow, and the scenery was nothing short of exquisite. Every part of the hike felt peaceful, scenic, and worth it, especially with the incredible Tahoe views along the way. It was the perfect balance of accessibility and natural beauty. A wonderful hike that we would gladly do again.
