Maligne Lake Cruise

The Maligne Lake Cruise was by far the highlight of our trip. Sailing across the stunning Maligne Lake and visiting the iconic Spirit Island was an unforgettable experience. We also enjoyed learning about the fascinating history behind the lake and how it got its name. A special shoutout to the wonderful crew—Elle, the most lovely captain we’ve ever met, who ensured a smooth and safe journey, and our incredibly funny and talented tour guide, Sam, who made the trip both entertaining and informative. I truly enjoyed every moment of this experience, and my child learned so much and absolutely adored both Sam and Elle. We highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting the area—it’s a must-do!

Thank you to Mitchell and Captain Arnab (sorry for misspellings) for a fantastic cruise on Lake Maligne! They were both super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The discussion on the importance of preserving Indigenous languages (and acknowledgement of our presence on Stoney Nakoda land) was very powerful and unfortunately rare for tour companies in the area. The size of the group was perfect and we appreciated the enclosed seats to help with the cold as well. We had to reschedule our tour time last minute and the company was very accommodating. My wife and I came to Jasper to take the Maligne Lake Cruise for our 10th anniversary as we had never done it before. From start to finish the experience was amazing. As a celiac she enjoyed a small beet and kale salad with Feta at the Lake House restaurant. She expressed her gratitude to the chefs for the ability to enjoy a Gluten Free option that was very tasty. Our Boat Captain Sam and Tour Guide Julia were very knowledgeable about the Lake and the area. Julia was a fountain of pertinent information, very cheerful and friendly. Sam was funny and engaging and we both enjoyed talking with them throughout the cruise. Spirit Island was beautiful despite the rainy weather and we spotted several moose mommas and calves from the boat due to Sam's eagle eye. Overall, we would recommend the experience to anyone traveling into the Jasper Area.
