Maker's Mark Distillery

Marker’s Mark is an outstanding distillery to visit. From their gorgeous campus to their passionate employees, the tours were memorable. We did the ‘Winter Whisky Creek Walking Tour’ which lead us past the usual tour area. We visited the Experimental Gardens and Mushroom Quarry that provide ingredients for the cocktails and food served at Marker’s Mark. Our tour guide, Logan, did a wonderful job and made the tour memorable, despite the very cold temperatures at the time. Marker’s Mark takes very good care of their employees and the environment and this definitely shows.

We visited a number of distilleries in the Louville area and Maker's Mark definitely made a TOP 3. We loved the drive through the remote areas to get there. The guest building was neat, full of artwork, with a restaurant and a terrace in the back to enjoy a cocktail while waiting for your turn to begin. We loved the entire campus, filled with Dale Chihuly glass artwork everywhere we went. The modern artworks are a great addition to the old-school distillery look. We got to see the actual distillery house, the warehouse, bottling factory (that's where they dip the bottles in a wax), experienced the tasting of cask strength, French-oaked 46 and well-known straight bourbon. In the actual store, you can wax-dip your own bottle and purchase all sorts of merchandise. We left with a sense of satisfaction and are planning to be back here for more experience.

We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Taylor, went on a brisk fall day and enjoyed walking through. My favorite part was probably the fermentation room, but everything was very interesting. They currently have a Choluly Glass exhibit which added to the beauty of the grounds. Many people go for the tasting at the end, we participated, but are not really big bourbon drinkers. We went just for a fun thing to do on a Saturday in the fall. The drive from Louisville to the distillery was also quite beautiful and took us on some back back roads. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re thinking about it, whether you’re bourbon drinker or not I think you’ll have a great time!
