Beautiful short hike with stunning views! Lookout Trail is one of the best quick hikes in Algonquin. It’s a short but steep climb, and the reward at the top is absolutely worth it — a breathtaking panoramic view of the forest and lakes, especially in fall. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. Not stroller-friendly, but great for a quick workout and amazing photos.

An iconic trail on the highway 60 corridor that lives up to its name. The lookout is excellent and worth the easy 2 km loop with some fairly easy climbing (to get to said lookout). Being an easy and worthwhile trail, it does get busy on weekends, so be prepared for that.

I visited on September 26th and initially took the wrong trail. Make sure to take the trail on the far left. Once you're on the correct trail, you'll see a sign indicating the lookout trail. The trail is a loop; the right side of the loop is longer and easier, while the left side is shorter, steeper, and much more challenging. We chose the left side, and it provided a good workout. The scenery was beautiful, and the lookout point was worth the effort. Be cautious when descending on the right side, as there are many rocks, which can be a bit slippery.
