Ended up being a 2 mile walk/hike with some elevation gains which got my heart rate up a couple of times. Overall a very enjoyable hour. We parked at the gravel lot and went to the 3 separate viewing overlooks. Beautiful day and everyone on the trail was so nice. I highly recommend viewing the river/falls from all 3 view points. it doesn’t disappoint!
I parked at the trailhead lot which is dirt parking lot (there is another larger paved parking lot), so I walked further to get to the Plunge trail (it's at the paved parking lot with porta potties). I think the Plunge observation has a better view of Falls. However, there are about 80 steps closer to the end of the trail (combined stone and root-steps) to endure that makes the Plunge trail more challenging than the easier path everyone uses to the higher lookout. Regardless, Linville Falls is a beautiful site!
All 4 trails are restored and the views are breathtaking. The plunge pool hike is somewhat strenuous but absolutely worthwhile. The visitor's center vanished during Helene. There are rangers in the parking area on most days to answer questions. Port-a-potties are set up and kept clean.
