Let me be honest with you: this is not the easy stroll some people make it sound like. It's a steady uphill grind from Lake Louise, and the trail is basically "up" the entire way. Bring water, bring patience. But — and it's a big but — the payoff is absolutely worth it. Everyone at the top was raving about the view, and I found myself nodding along like an idiot because they were right. Lake Agnes sitting there perfectly still, not a ripple on it, wind coming through, and honestly one of the most comfortable spots to just sit and do nothing I've found in the Rockies. There's a tea house right at the lake for food and drinks, which is lovely in theory. In practice, in peak summer, the line is long. Factor that in, or pack your own and skip the wait. Once you've rested up, don't turn around yet — go do the Big Beehive. Yes, it's more climbing. Yes, your legs will complain. But you get both Lake Louise and Lake Agnes from above at the same time, and that view is the actual prize of this whole area. Bring lunch and eat it up there. Best seat in the house.

Beautiful lake. One of our favorites, I mean, just look at everyone’s pictures! This is a great spot to chill for an hour or more before starting your next leg. The hike is tough, no doubt, but worth the time commitment.

If you did not include the difficulty of hiking to get to this place, it would be one of the more morable hikes. I would rate it as moderate to difficult hiking; it's not recommended for older people or people with leg problems. Some sections of the trail are full of rocks, and you have to make your way by jumping between them. Overall, when you get to the top, the views are unbelievable; along the way, you come across Mirror Lake, and it looks like a mirror.
