The observation platform itself is small and gets crowded.. it only holds 30ish people comfortably but the views are stunning! Make sure to bring hydration and use caution if asthmatic!
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Kuwohi (formerly Clingsman Dome). It was a very crowded, autumn, beautiful Saturday afternoon when we visited in early October. The hike to the top is only a half mile long, but pretty steep. There’s lots of places to rest. The trail is wide and paved to allow handicapped access. There are beautiful views from the parking lot and all the way up. The dome itself was the only part that felt really crammed, despite how busy it was every where.
Beautiful views, well worth the effort. The path is short but steep. We had to stop several times to catch our breath. But it's definitely something you should visit in the Smoky Mountains.
