This place is amazing. I haven't stayed at the other campgrounds so I can't compare. But staying here was great. All the spots are clean and quiet. You are in the middle of the park so close to all the trails. Plenty of trash dumpsters and the bathrooms are really clean. No complaints just with I was back there.

It was like staying in Bedrock, I expected Fred Flintstone to pop his head over the rocks at any moment. It's a truly unique campground. It can get very windy and the mice are fast if your not paying attention and leave something out... even for a few minutes. Even our 17yo dog did some exploring, something the old guy hasn't done in awhile.

Jumbo Rock Campground is one of the most iconic campgrounds in Joshua Tree National Park, surrounded by massive granite boulders that create a truly unique desert camping experience. The sites feel surprisingly private thanks to the natural rock formations, and the night sky is exceptional for stargazing. Facilities are very basic—no water, electricity, or showers—so you’ll need to come prepared. One of its biggest advantages is the location, with Skull Rock, one of the park’s most famous landmarks, just a short drive away. Price: about $30 per night per campsite. Ideal for campers who value atmosphere, scenery, and proximity to key attractions over comfort.
