Higher Ground Cafe

Stopped in from Edmonton last Friday evening on our way through Calgary and really lucked out finding this spot. The barista talked me through their single origin pour over options without any attitude even though I clearly had no idea what I was doing. Got a slice of their carrot cake with an oat milk latte and both were fantastic, still thinking about it days later. Loved that they had a few outlets and comfy corner seating too, made it easy to sit and unwind after a long day of driving.

My husband and I stopped in on a Tuesday evening after a long day of wandering around Calgary, and Higher Ground turned out to be exactly the kind of spot we needed. The staff were so warm and welcoming, and one of the young women behind the counter made sure we knew about the daily soup special, which was a hearty lentil that really hit the spot. The cafe has this cozy, lived-in feel with mismatched furniture and soft lighting that made us want to linger far longer than we planned. We will absolutely be back the next time we pass through the city, and we have already told our daughter she needs to check it out.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Higher Ground! I started going here when I was living in Sunnyside and after moving I still continue to make the drive and go. My favourite place to study, meet with people, and hangout. My go to drinks are caramel macchiato, caramel latte, and vanilla frappe (cinnamon bun is amazing too). The staff here are phenomenal and I have never once been disappointed.
