Sprawling park includes Gettysburg Battlefied & more historic land, plus a Civil War museum.
If you enjoy history, you have to go here at least once in your life. If you're able to spend more than one day in the area, that would be even better. We were only able to scratch the surface in one day at Gettysburg. The field is very well maintained and preserved, with a host of markers to tell you who was where, and what happened at the various locations.
American history at its finest!! You definitely need a good day to take it all in from the museum, to the free auto stop tour, the unbelievable amount of monuments (many incredibly beautiful), and the gorgeous countryside. Until you are there it’s impossible to understand the grossness of the battle field both in its girth and the brutality of the battles that took place over 3 days. Get there early and enjoy the day.
Absolutely love love coming here. Directions are not very accurate. I have learned if you put in directions to McDonald's it makes it easier to find. We didn't get to see the other statues over by the visitor center because it's street parking. However, thus drive through area is really nice and there is so much to see and learn and do
