Frontenac Provincial Park

Tremendous park for hikes and programs. We went in May, no bugs and we were the only people on the trails, on Saturday and Sunday. Breathtaking vistas, more beaver dams than I've seen before and so many wildflowers.

Beautiful place. Well maintained sites with raised 16' x 16' wooden platforms for tents, metal bear boxes (careful about mice), and outhouses. Some of the grouped sites are very close - you're going to meet new friends! Our kids had fun looking for jumping rocks on Big Salmon and Camel Lake - there are a few!

If you like nature, and whatever it offers, then this is the park for you. Be ready to park your vehicle and do some physical activity compared to other parks where you can drive around. Parking is limited and be respectful to other people parking. There is no usual Gate Office you find in other parks, there is a Park Office near South Otter Lake where you can park for 15 minutes max and get day pass, then drive to actual parking lots. They're small lots. However, you'll find spots, and mostly nature lovers are here. South Otter Lake and Big Salmon Lake is the main attraction, and many benches are available at South Otter Lake Front for a picnic and bring your canoe or kayaks to launch. Arab Lake is a bit away from its parking lot, so be ready to portage if needed. Drive to Big Salmon Lake is a bit tricky. It is a gravel road, very narrow, and you may have to stop to let another vehicle pass. Watch for large stones on the side of the road as you may hit one or two, may damage your vehicle, and speed limit is 20kmph, so please stay within. Bike riding Overall, it was a very good experience with mother nature.
