Dante's View

Dante’s View is very beautiful and breathtaking. First, it is a very high mountain. However, there are trails which make it very easy to walk. Secondly, there are always park rangers ready to help you. The park rangers can help you with tickets, show where to find something, and even take your pictures! Thirdly, the view is very beautiful. It overlooks Badwater Basin. It was very interesting looking at a pile of salt which was once a huge lake which was called Lake Manly. It sometimes returns as a shallow, temporary lake after major storms. Oh yeah, one more thing. Badwater Basin is the lowest point below sea level in North America! Yep! It stands about It lies 282 feet below sea level. Overall, this is why Dante’s View is a great place to visit because of its walkability, helpful features, and its unique landscape.

One of the most breathtaking viewpoints in Death Valley National Park.Sitting above sea level, it offers a dramatic overlook of Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. The air here is cooler and fresher than on the valley floor, making it a refreshing stop, especially in warmer months. It’s peaceful, quiet, and inspiring, the kind of place that makes you pause and truly take in the beauty of nature.

If you want to truly understand the scale of Death Valley, you have to come to Dante’s View. It provides a breathtaking bird’s-eye perspective of the entire park. From the top, you can see the towering mountains to the west, the vast northern desert, and the shimmering salty plains in the middle. Seeing the mix of salt and water on the valley floor from this height is incredible. The drive up is easy on a well-paved road, but keep your eyes peeled! We saw hundreds of centipedes crossing the pavement and even a vulture acting as nature’s cleanup crew on a squirrel. It’s a fantastic spot for local fauna. • Facilities: Plenty of parking and a restroom available at the top. • Pro Tip: Bring a jacket! It’s significantly cooler and windy up here than it is on the valley floor.
