Well-trafficked 1.8-mi. loop past Wonderland of Rocks, desert scrub & reservoir dam built in 1900.
A easy hike with a good destination (historical Barker Dam). Along the way learn about the California Juniper and desert oak. Make sure to get close to the junipers and take in their aroma.
Great “short” hike. If you like kids who like to climb rocks it takes awhile to get through this hike. We went after winter rain so there was a beautiful pond area to take photos midway. There are restrooms at the beginning. Lots of great photo opportunities.
Beautiful hike at sunset! Ending up clocking just over a mile so it’s a short one but still highly recommended. It’s nearby some other good trails in Joshua Tree as well.
