Beautiful, breathtaking, the cold crisp air was amazing. We can’t wait to come back. We got very lucky for the off season to not deal with too many people or bad weather. 441 was closed for a day and open the next so we were able to travel that the day before we had to leave and it just ended up being the best vacation ever for me personally. The little bit of snow was perfect. Roads are well kept
Definitely a must see if you’re in the area. We went during the winter and there was definitely some snow and ice. The roads were well maintained and everyone drove carefully. There was lots of hikes for everyone of all abilities. There was paved paths for wheelchair accessible options to still enjoy the views. There were a lot of lookout areas too off the highway so if hiking isn’t your thing you can still enjoy the beautiful views the Great Smokey Mountains have to offer.
So much greenery everywhere. It feels completely different compared to other parks. The air feels fresh, the mountains are covered in trees, and everything looks calm and peaceful. The mist around the mountains adds a nice vibe, especially while driving through. It’s a place where you just want to slow down, enjoy the views, and spend time in nature. Definitely a refreshing and relaxing experience.
